Changes in Precipitation
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) one of the major impacts of climate change will be an overall increase in precipitation due to the increased evaporation from warmer temperatures. while there will be an overall increase, the effect will differ from region to region. For instance, In most subtropical areas, average precipitation is expected to decrease, while average precipitation is expected to increase in high-altitude regions. These changes in precipitation can cause a multitude of problems, such as flooding, droughts, groundwater depletion, and decreased overall water quality. In California, the problems created by changes in precipitation vary by season, with increased flooding in the spring, and an increase in drought in the summer ("Changes in Precipitation," n.d.).
